STAGES THEATER: RECAP OF THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

STAGES THEATER: RECAP OF THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

It’s truly an honor and a joy to continue bringing the Stages Arts and Literacy program to Fair Pilgrim Lane. Watching our students grow in confidence and creativity year after year is deeply rewarding—and this year was no exception.

Wow, what a whirlwind year it has been!

Kindergarten kicked off the school year using their actor tools—body, voice, and imagination—to explore emotions and letter sounds. They wrapped up the year with delightful puppet shows focused on trees and the ocean, showcasing both creativity and care for our planet.

Second grade dove into the elements of dance, using them throughout the year—starting with Dot Day and continuing through The Nutcracker, where they learned to compare and contrast characters and story elements. They finished the year by exploring the parts, needs, and life cycle of a plant through movement and storytelling. They even added choreography to their Reader's Theater performance!

Third grade used tableau to create powerful scenes for bullying prevention. Then, they moved on to their capstone project honoring the unsung heroes of Black history. They finished strong by applying persuasive language skills to create engaging and creative commercials.

Fourth grade expanded their knowledge of stage directions by learning the nine areas of the stage. They created duet acting scenes that highlighted strong characterization and vivid settings. Midway through the year, they built on their classroom community by honoring culture and tradition, demonstrating the themes of unity and change. The year ended with students writing and performing their own original monologues.

Finally, fifth grade brought it all together—culminating years of learning through the Stages Arts and Literacy program in a beautiful and moving production of The Lion King Kids. Along the way, they revisited skills such as stage directions, characterization, and choreography, and even created their own short plays inspired by picture books.

From the very first warm-up to the final curtain call, this year has been filled with creativity, collaboration, and courageous storytelling. Bravo to all our student artists!

The stage may go dark for summer, but the joy of storytelling lives on. Please encourage our students to continue reading and using their imagination!

Much Love,

Ms. Trudy
