GRADE 3: ORCHESTRA HALL INFORMATION

We are thrilled to have our Robbinsdale third grade students attend a concert at Orchestra Hall on March 19. This field trip is made possible through generous grants that fund both the performance tickets and transportation costs. We thank the Young People's Symphony Concert Association (YPSCA) and The Seven Dreams Education Foundation for their tremendous generosity.

The Minnesota Orchestra shares that "music has the power to evoke all kinds of emotions from listeners and is often inspired by those of the composer. From pure joy to deep sadness, the music featured in this program elicits a wide range of emotions, reminding us that feelings and art go hand in hand." In addition to hearing the Minnesota Orchestra musicians, the students will listen to Jane Story, a 17 year old violinist who won this year's 67th annual YPSCA Concerto Competition. It is always inspiring to imagine that one of our current third graders could win a similar competition at the 76th YPSCA Concerto Competition.

To prepare our third graders for the performance, YPSCA sends out musical ambassadors to preview the concert. OboeBass! is joining our students for the 15th year in a row. Each year, Carrie Vecchione brings her oboe and Rolf Erdahl brings his bass, hence OboeBass! Carrie shares that "for many third graders, this is their first opportunity to hear a world-class orchestra perform."

This outing not only enhances their understanding of music but also fosters a love for the arts. We're incredibly grateful for such an exceptional opportunity and look forward to seeing our students inspired by the power of music!
