Dear Parents and Guardians,
Whew! I Love to Read Month is busy! Our goal is to promote the love of reading. Tonight our Grade 1 stuffed animals are sleeping over in the library, reading books all night! The children were so excited today for the stuffed animal sleepover! Don't forget Hats off to Reading Day, Dress like you are a 100 years old (and read during the day) and Literacy Night!
We had a busy week with our Artists in Residency Program. Our students participated in puppetry and tile art. There was a great deal of excitement through the school. A HUGE thank you to our PTO for the fundraising efforts in order to make this program available for our students. This included the Dragon Run, Fall Festival, Parent Night Out and Charleston Wrapping Paper. Due to our parent support we have fabulous extensions of programming for our students.
Our Grade 2 students have been selected by the NCAA to design a banner for the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. We are honored to be selected to show our artistic skills. Our team is the Indiana Women's Basketball Team - Go Hoosiers! There are two players from Minnesota on the team so we are excited to design their banner and have it hanging during the NCAA tournament!
Ms. Trudy, Stages Theater, is working hard with the students to prepare for the Black History Program (Grade 3), Unit 3 Assembly for Second Step (Various Grade Levels), Elder Program (Grade 4) and the Schoolhouse Rock Musical (Grade 5). We love our collaboration with Stages Theater.
And...tomorrow our Kindergarten students are going to Hopkins Stages Theater to see "Dragons Love Tacos". They cannot wait to see Hazel and Miles on the "Big Stage" too!
Have a great rest of the week!
