Giraffes Can't Dance

The Right Thing To Do is an inspiring world-premiere musical based on the children’s book by Joe Schmit. Inspired by Hall of Famer Joe Mauer, the story shows how one simple choice can spark a chain of kindness that changes many lives. With lively music and memorable characters, it celebrates friendship, doing what’s right, and the powerful ripple effect of small acts of kindness.

Our second and third graders are eagerly looking forward to our May 6 field trip to the Stages Theatre in Hopkins to watch a spectacular performance of "The Right Thing to Do: The Joe Mauer Story."

spotlight on stages

Spotlight featuring Connecting Generations:

Our fourth grade students proudly presented their capstone project, Connecting Generations, to a large audience last Wednesday. The event was a clear success, living up to its name as students engaged in meaningful, heartfelt conversations with their pen pals. Their enthusiasm and connection were evident throughout the day.

The impact of this experience was perhaps best captured in the words of the participating elders:

“Meeting my pen pals was such a delight, and we had such a good conversation together. Talk about spirit lifting!! The entire experience has been absolutely perfect. I’m so grateful to be a part of this program.”

“Thank you for including me in the privilege of being able to read letters from fourth graders.
May their paths through life be as full of promise and happiness as their letters seem to suggest.”

We invite you to enjoy some photos of our students and their pen pals below, which capture the joy and connection shared during this special project.  Due to technical difficulties, the rest of the pictures will be sent out by teachers at a later date.

March is a time when we start to see signs of spring with longer days, melting snow, and new things starting to grow. Just like plants need sunlight, water, and care to grow, children's feelings need attention and support to grow in healthy ways as well. One simple way you can support emotional growth at home is by creating small moments each day to check in with your little one.

Try this activity: Rose, Thorn, Bud

Rose: Something good that happened today

Thorn: Something challenging or frustrating

Bud: Something they are looking forward to

This activity is designed to help children practice talking more about their emotions, reflecting on their day/mood, and building stronger connections with their loved ones.

Girls on the run

We are excited to announce we will have a Girls on The Run team for our 3rd - 5th grade students for another season this Spring!  A big thank you to FAIR parent Heidi Columb who has offered to be our head coach!  She will also have Christina Robb, Olivia Peer, and Amber Peterson as assistant coaches.

Girls on the Run inspires individuals of all abilities to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. Together, they experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. At the end of the season, the team completes a Community Impact Project and a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.

Please check out the Girls on the Run website for more information and to register!
